Organizational Background:
The Maury County Chamber and Economic Alliance (Maury Alliance) was created in 1999 to serve as the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development organization for Maury County, Tennessee. Maury County, with a population of approximately 108,000, includes the cities of Columbia, Spring Hill and Mt. Pleasant. 
 
The Maury Alliance serves local businesses by connecting members to improve business opportunities, advocating on behalf of its members as well as providing members cost savings and education. The Alliance also provides comprehensive economic development services for Maury County including existing industry expansion/retention as well as new industry recruitment.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a community minded marketing and communications professional who is passionate about branding, storytelling, and content strategy to advance our organization’s strategic communications efforts. A successful candidate has a track record of growing and engaging communities. We seek someone who enjoys leveraging thought leaders to tell stories that showcase the evolving role Maury Alliance and our stakeholders play within the county, region and state.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a marcomms strategy across the organization with the goals of growing our audience, increasing stakeholder engagement, and elevating the brand of the Maury Alliance. This work may include projects such as branding, website development, continuous improvement of all communication from event and membership collateral to presentations, social media, email marketing, and other marcomms products.
  • Create and distribute high-quality, original content for all of Maury Alliance’s print and digital channels, including our website, weekly and quarterly newsletters, email communications, and social media. Seek the latest relevant research in topics shaping business, the economy, and communities around the world. Support the team’s efforts to innovate in the areas of creative storytelling and learning opportunities.
 
 
 
  • Enhance the organization’s social media presence by developing and executing a social media strategy designed to raise awareness and build engagement around the organization’s strategic goals, programs and thought leadership.
  • Provide marketing and communications support across the organization to ensure editorial accuracy and consistency. This includes planning, creating, editing, and scheduling communications related to key Maury Alliance programs and activities, as well as creating branding and graphics for organizational events in a timely manner.
  • Leverage metrics to measure success by analyzing web traffic, email statistics and other relevant community data to assess and report on the effectiveness of communications efforts and improve future strategies and tactics.
  • Communications project management to ensure deadlines are met and all marketing and communications materials are aligned with the organization’s strategic vision, editorial calendar, and brand standards.
  • Manage contractors and consultants to ensure they deliver the highest quality product that matches our brand and vision, while staying within established budgets.
  • Develop and manage relationships with media partners to ensure the positive impacts of the Maury Alliance are being covered within the local and regional market.
  • Provide creative and design oversight for advertisements and marketing materials to promote the organization, its programs, and affiliates.
  • Monitor content and seek innovative best practices in economic and community development, leadership, organizational management, workforce development, community advancement, public policy engagement and economic inclusion.



Qualifications:
  • Three years of marketing and communications experience in a professional setting
  • Excellent writing skills with a demonstrated proficiency in grammar, proofreading, and AP Style
  • Curiosity about how regional economies and how business-civic entities work
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital and social media marketing and communications
  • Collaborative work and management styles
  • Outstanding eye for modern design
  • Verbal communication skills -- comfortable speaking to senior-level executives, both in person and via telephone
  • Can-do work ethic, excellent time management and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach and team-oriented attitude
  • Customer service skills and temperament; calm under pressure
  • Ability to read, comprehend and synthesize written materials and large amounts of data
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to prioritize tasks, accomplish objectives, and meet deadlines
  • Experience with leveraging data analytics to improve marketing outcomes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency with various social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Proficiency with website CMS and email marketing service providers
  • Experience with various CRM systems such as Salesforce and GrowthZone
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
