Tool Room Attendant

BMC Metalworks, LLC is a 52 year old local, family-owned & operated, full-service metalworking business, serving numerous industries in the Southeast. We specialize in Design and engineering, CNC Machining, Steel Fabrication, Field team service, and even a 24-hr emergency service. We are located on New Highway 7 in Columbia, just outside of downtown Columbia & south of Nashville. We are on 7 acres with 3 Operations buildings totaling 75,000 sq ft of production space.
BMC Metalworks, LLC has an immediate opening for a Tool Room Attendant to assist in our Fabrication & Machining Services. A tool room attendant is responsible for the maintenance and inventory of supplies within the tool room.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements :
Inventory and Records Management
Check-In/Check-Out: Managing the tooling database and maintaining a list of tools and equipment available for distribution for jobs. Maintains records of which products are signed out and to whom, and then signs products back in when they are returned.
Stock Replenishment: Monitor supply levels and order replacements for lost, broken, or depleted stock. Ensure there is enough stock of necessary tools & supplies.
Auditing: Conduct routine, perpetual, or periodic physical inventories to ensure records match available stock.
Tool Maintenance and Safety
Quality Control: Inspect returned tools for wear, damage, or defects. Remove unsafe tools from circulation and route them for repair.
Storage : Storing tools and equipment properly
Basic Upkeep: Perform minor maintenance, such as cleaning, sharpening, or lubricating tools
Inspection : Inspecting tools and equipment for wear, damage, and defects. Keep records of all items issued.
Order : If tools or equipment are lost, the tool room attendant orders additional stock of those materials, tools, or equipment for the company. Order replacement tools, equipment, supplies for shop, safety equipment, paint.
Safety Compliance: Ensure the tool room environment meets safety and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations.
Required Skills :
Must have proficient and accurate computer skills, data entry skills and tool management database software skills
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills with positive attitude and professional demeanor
Must be very detail oriented
Must have effective time management and organization skills to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
Preferred Experience :
2-3 years of related experience
Experience in a machine or fabrication shop or similar environment
Experience in Quality
Required Education :
High School
Secondary / Trade or college preferred
Shift availability:
Full-Time
Day Shift : (5 days/8 hours)
6:30am - 3pm
Commensation :
Hourly rate commensurate with skills, abilities, and experience
