THE FAIR RETURNS TO MAURY COUNTY Monster trucks, music and masks highlight changes to annual county extravaganza. (COLUMBIA, Tenn. – July 29, 2020) - - - When the fair returns to Maury County this September, things will be quite different from years past. With added attractions, expanded safety precautions and adjustments to annual competitions and shows, the 2020 fair will be like none that have come before. “We are very excited to once again be hosting our annual fair here in Maury County” said Andy Ogles, County mayor. “The fair is always an exciting time for our residents and visitors and while this year will be different in many ways, we feel that those in attendance will have a fun, safe time.” The most noticeable change will be safety measures put in place due to the ongoing pandemic. In conjunction with Kissel Entertainment, the company that provides the rides and games, steps will be taken to keep fair visitors and workers safe and healthy. “Kissel has been in the business of making fairs a success for over 70 years and the safety measures they have implemented this year will make sure to continue that” said Eddie Kerr, fair board chairman. “By setting standards such as limited ride capacity, sanitizing before after ride use and using directional arrows throughout the ground to control traffic flow, we can all enjoy the fair this year.” The added safety precautions aren’t the only thing that will be different either. After winning last year’s Most Improved Fair award, Maury County is pushing the boundaries again this year with their nightly attractions including flat track racing, live music and even a monster truck show. “Every night of the fair has something special to see” said Kerr. “The committee has really worked hard to line up events and shows that we feel the public will enjoy.” A full schedule of events and shows can be found on the Maury County Fair’s website as well as their Facebook page. Additional safety precautions in place will include fair workers being trained on COVID-19 and how to interact with the public along with daily health checks prior to their shifts and an abundance of sanitizer stations will be found throughout the fair grounds. While masks are not mandated for attendees, anyone handling food will wear masks and gloves at all times. The use of credit card sales and pre-ordered tickets to limit cash transactions is encouraged. Visit www.maurycountyfair.com to see the complete line up of this year’s events. The mission of the Maury County Fair and Expo is to promote agriculture awareness and education through a traditional county fair setting. By combining events, shows and games, we seek to offer family fun for the whole community.
