Duck River Clean Up
The Duck River is a beautiful winding river that is rich in history, wildlife, and folklore. At over 270 miles long, it is one of the longest rivers contained entirely within our Tennessee borders. The Duck showcases scenic pastoral lands, steep rock cliffs, and forested banks. Underneath the surface, the river teems with an almost unsurpassed variety, over 500 species, of freshwater animal life.
Just as significant, the Duck River is the sole water source for 250,000 people in Middle Tennessee. The water quality of the Duck River is crucial for animals, people, and for the local economy in Maury County. As concerned citizens we need to protect our water ways and animal life for future generations.
On June 14, 2014 Keep Maury Beautiful along with Higher Pursuits, the Duck River Agency, and other interested citizens are sponsoring the DUCK RIVER CLEAN UP. We are asking for volunteers to come out that morning, float the Duck and clean up this valuable asset. There will be prizes given away along with a free Barbeque lunch served at the end of the cleanup.
To register you can come by the office of Keep Maury Beautiful, 308 West 7th Street between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and pick up supplies. For more information call 388-8511.
